A Khulna court on Wednesday sentenced twenty six people to life term imprisonment for killing a man at Bishnupur village in Kalia upazila of Narail in 2019.

Khulna Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal Judge Md Nazrul Islam Hawladar passed the order this noon.

The court also fined them Tk 5,000 each, in default of which they will have to serve more one year in jail.

The life awardees are: Mafij Biswas, Alam Sheikh, Salam Sheikh, Shariful Sheikh, Mamun Sheikh, Ashik Shikder, Sohel Shikder, Sabuj Sheikh, Sabuj Mollah, Khalid Molla, Khokon Mollah, Kibria Mollah, Sadi Sheikh, Ahadul Sheikh, Imdad Sheikh, Shariful Mollah, Bappy Sheikh, Sufian Khan, Ashraful Khan, Anwar Mollah, Ranju Molla, Dulal Khan, Shiplu Khan, Ujjal Talukder, Ashik Molla and Ajad Sheikh.

The court also acquitted Babu Molla, Rakibul Mollah, Milon Sheikh and Selim Mollah, as the allegations brought against them could not be proved.

According to the case statement, the convicts hacked Bony Mollah to death over previous enmity on May 11, 2019.

Two days after the murder, Bony’s father Md Hasim Mollah filed a case with Kalia police station.
